Green/White Shirt Question

Got another question (big surprise:icon_tong ): I remember in photos with the F-14, A-6E and Legacy Hornet, there would a white shirt kneeling by the rear of the jet as it launched and they'd have a high thumbs up. But I found this picture of green shirts giving a high and low thumbs up for a Super Hornet. Why did they change?

There are lots of people involved in the launch. The green-shirts you see are the ABEs, while the white-shirts are QA or Safety people. Lots of folks render a thumbs-up prior to launch, so who you see is going to depend on who is around and what the camera angle is.

The green shirts there are final checkers from the squadron. Most likely you would see them in white, but in this case they are wearing green. If you look on their float coats you can see VFA 41 painted on the back (squadron personnel. ABE's don't do any final checking of the aircraft. I am a prior ABE so I just thought I would put in my 2 pennies.
