For those who might be interested, I found a great reference book at B&N titled: "Today's Military Wife - 4th Edition by Lydia Sloan Cline

It has alot of practical and current information about the military life, benefits, housing info, dependents, healthcare ins, finances,PCS moves, resources etc... just the gamut of topics that can help ease the transition from civilian life. Although it's mainly for spouses, it's a good reference material for the prospective servicemember as well.

Hmmm...I think my husband might take offense if I bought him that book.

Perhaps you should buy him a nice cocktail dress to go along with the book--it might soften the blow. :-P

Seriously though, thanks for the reference. I might get it for my fiancee for Christmas or something.

New Edition coming out in February.... so if you can wait the info will surely be more current than the 4th ed. published in '98.

Personally, I think the book should be titled differently. More along the lines of "Information and Resources for Civilian families going into the military."
