I will be moving to Corpus in 1-2 months for Primary, and am just beginning to brainstorm about where I will live! Any good recommendations for apartment complexes near base?

If your interested, my best friend's parents bought a condo in CC for his younger sister to stay at while renting out the other room. I don't know if they were just looking for college types or not, but I don't think she found a roommate for this semester so it might still be open. Her Dad was career Air Force so I'm sure if the Navy trusts you, they would too. PM me if your interested.

Stay away from bayfront.......alot of guys get suckered in due to its proximity to base.....but the management is freakin ridiculous(sp?). The Island is nice.....10 min commute (15 min door to squadron max). There are a crap load of duplexes....if you can find one other person to go in with you, you can have a canal front pad less than 2 min from the beach. That's my .02

Living on the island is great. There's lots of places to select from, and like Pcola04/30 said, its an easy drive to base. Definitely check it out.

Living on the island is awesome. There are tons of places for rent if you can find a roomate or two (for a house or duplex). There are also several apartment complexes. We found our duplex by driving around out here and just calling the numbers on the for rent signs.

Another thread is here (talks a fair bit about base housing, which I understand is not accepting people right now):

The bridge construction to the island is basically done (two lanes each way), and the road has been raised to help during high water. We haven't experienced any problems with the bridge at all.

Hope that helps.

No Baypoint

Avoid BayPoint at all costs and tell your friends to do the same. I absolutely cannot say enough bad things about management... what a joke. They will have no problem screwing you over in whatever way possible; they will LOVE it.

Yeah and the CC motorcycle cops and a State Trooper were patrolling the side going toward the island today too.

GOD DAM$IT!!! I drove over that thing for 10 months....left Corpus, and now it is fixed.....just like VT-27's Ready Room when I finished primary....as soon as I leave things get fixed.....ah crap!!! :D

The Island is the place to live, especially since the bridge is fixed....traffic will not be a problem(no Di$Kweed going 45 for 5 miles holding everyone up.). Dont get caught up thinking you will be too far away from town....because seriously everything from the Island is only 15-20 minutes away(thank god for the SPID). I would enjoy the Island....(Farrahs is only a Boat ride away, at least it was for me.......until you get sick of the place that is.....everyone does!!!)

If you are tired of living in apartments I would look into a duplex....drive down Cruiser street. It is on the island right off of Whitecap. You cannot miss it, once you get here you will realize that the island is pretty damn simple to navigate and whitecap is one of the major roads.

I was interested in getting into a duplex when I first arrived but I wasnt able to pull many listings up on any webpages. I ended up just driving around the island looking for 'For Rent' signs on a nice street. I stumbled onto Cruiser, which I think is almost exclusively duplexes. You have canal front and land locked listings. There are a ton of units available.

Very doable from the financial standpoint if you have one roomate. Married guys should have no problems especially if a landlocked unit is OK.

If you want a couple of numbers to call to ask questions, just PM me and I'll write down a couple for ya when I drive by.
