Going Back to Navy from AF

I thought I remember reading a thread on here about a Navy stud who washed out of AF UPT for what ever reason and the Navy gave him a second chance back at one of there Primaries. I could be out of my mind since nothing came up in a search. I have a buddy here with me at Moody in this situation and wanted to hear what advice anyone could give him. Is this possible?

There's Navy guys here with no prior time (other than IFS). That is a false statement.

I wish I had had some flight time before I went to Vance, we didn't even have IFS back then.

I didn't see anyone get a second chance in the 9 months I was at Moody, nor did I ever hear of anything like that happening.

I guess it wouldn't hurt for him to ask. All they can say is no, and then kick you out of the Navy. Anybody been redesignated lately? He really wants to stay in either way.

I think this is why the USMC and most likely the Navy as well only send people with prior flight time to training with the Air Force.

No such requirement to go to Vance or Moody, or any of the navy primary sqd's either.

haha....all the USMC Studs here at meridian who went through vance say they were either unlucky to go there and/or they finished first above there other aviation guys at TBS (congradulations on kicking ass...here is a kick in the nuts to Enid, OK). At least that is the gouge as of a year ago.

Back to the original topic, anything is possible. I've seen people cry foul on their training and subsequent attrition manage to get a second chance at another location. Rare? Yes. Impossible? No.

Your boy needs to have EVERYTHING documented. Has he tried talking to the USN exchange IPs there? That'd be the first step. If they agree that maybe he got some kind of raw deal, they might help get the ball rolling.

Also helps to know a congressman, have a daddy who happens to be a senior officer, or be a female. That's not me being a d!ck. That's the facts.

I dont know what its like at Moody, but, it is pretty hard to get washed out of Vance. They are really big on getting people through around here. I cant imagine the Navy would turn around and say, ok, give it another shot, but in a much less forgiving system this time.

I didn't know they sent Marines through AF training. If Vance AF guys are anything like they are here at Moody, the Marines must be going out of their minds. I thought the Navy was lax, but the AF puts a whole new spin on it. I never thought an officer could be treated like this by the enlisted ranks in ANY military branch. I always tell them they should be glad there are no Marines at Moody. I remember how much crap the Navy guys caught at API, I can only imagine what life is like at Vance with a Marine.

Anybody at Moody right now or in API know if they officially closed Moody for Navy guys? I knew that there were rumors of it closing and I was curious if they were still sending studs to the Moody Meat Grinder.

Yep, I am the 2nd to last Navy guy here at Moody. There are only 6 of us here now, including IPs. Don't be sad about this.....you are not missing out on anything special. Besides, the 3rd is closing next year anyway. They are moving A-10s in here.
