What would be a good gift to get a soon to be Coast Guard flight student? My boyfriend will soon be heading to Coast Guard Flight Training in Pensacola. I would like to get him something flight related for his college graduation and was wondering if anyone had some ideas. I've been looking at the internet and found a few sites with pilot logbooks, and other other supplies and was wondering what kinds of things he would be issued in flight school v. what he would need to get on his own. I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks.

if you are looking for things he will need (rather than enjoy) get him a real high speed kneeboard, not something huge, but compact and functional (ie pockets, see through straps and soft) the one they get issued is GHETTO.

He will only be allowed to use the navy log book that is issued, so don't go with that.

If you are looking to go with something that is more enjoyable rather than work related... a good pair of sun glasses. The issue ones are so bad. They would have to be black (non reflective) lenses non fadish (ie nothing too odd looking) a lot of us wear the wire Oakleys or Rayban (not the ones from top gun). The frames should not be bright colors or anything, most people go with black.
