Here’s the deal.

I’m a junior in college.

I’m currently from New York.

I was told by my OSO that PRK waivers are over.

Been searching this sight for confirmation of this and can’t find it anywhere.

Is my OSO telling the truth?

Say I want to be at PLC next summer for aviation…what are my options from right this very moment on out?

I guess what I’m asking is there any loop-holes? I hear one can go ground then switch to air but I’m not conferrable bumping a potential ground guy out. Maybe...but I dunno.

What is the OFFICIAL deal with PRK/LASEK? I contacted a neighboring OSO and he said the same thing. Contacted another and he didn’t hear anything, only that it was a three month wait after procedure. Holy crap, my original OSO told me six months. Can I once and for all get a straight answer!

Ha, muffin, we might have the same OSO. Im out of NY too. Albany, actually. He gave me a no go as well. I want to go pilot so bad it hurts. Im in flight school now and I love it so much. But I will sacrifice that to be a Marine. Anyhow... What I plan on doing is calling NOMI. I heard several other people state that their OSOs are accepting it, and waivers are being given. I figure , Ill ask the source. Maybe you should to. If you find out anything, let me know. If I find out, Ill do the same.

from nomi, the answer is that the study is still going on. you can find out for yourself, but the recruiter is b.s'ing you. and once the study is over, it's sounding from nomi like prk will pretty much immediately be a standard waiverable issue since the study has been going better than anticipated. as for the wait, there's a lot on this site regarding that....less than -5.50 diopters = 3 month wait. greater than -5.50 diopters = 6 month wait.
