FRS Locations for Navy

TxSNA2013

I am about half way done with training here in Milton. Looking to get some detailed information on my options for FRS locations and mission opportunities. Thanks in advance!

Dude. Do they not do selection briefs anymore? If you're halfway through, you should have been talking with other studs + your instructors and attending these briefs. I'm all for virtual ready rooms, but don't let it replace the real deal.

To be fair, the community briefs tend to devolve into: "Bro, if you go HSC you'll totes get to fly SEALs around." And from the HSM guys "That's not true! You'll just fly Starboard D!"

You definitely need to ask your friends what they are putting on their preference sheets and talk to instructors about what they liked and didn't like about their duty stations. To me, location was more important than platform. I don't regret being on the West Coast.

FRS is only 7-12 months, right?
I assume you really want to know where the fleet squadrons are homeported.
Japan: HSC (CVW), HSM
Guam: HSC (Exp)
Hawaii: HSM
Jacksonville: HSM
Norfolk: HSC (CVW & Exp)
San Diego: All flavors
Did I miss any?

For HSC, SD, Japan, and Guam guys goes to SD (HSC-3). I imagine it's the same for Hawaii HSM dudes

Not all the time. Lately, HSC Guam guys have been mostly going to Norfolk for the FRS. Hawaii HSM guys do go through SD.

FRS assignment depends more on student load, less on geographic location for Japan/Guam people. Fleet squadron swaps sometimes happen at the FRS.

Does one FRS take more studs than another? It seems like SD would require more studs to replace NA's in both Japan and SD....

SD gets more because they have the Sierra and the Romeo RAG there. East coast splits the Sierra/Romeo RAGS between Norfolk and Jax. Guam guys have been going through Norfolk recently.
