Hello,
I am a junior in NROTC and will be applying for my flight guarantee soon. I've taken the ASTB and recieved a 6/6/5. I understand that the Marine Corps requires 4/6/6 so I have met the minimum for pilot. My question is, are these scores necessarily competitive or should I consider retaking the test?

I will appreciate the input,
Semper Fi

don't take it again. I actually just spoke to a navy lt. at p-cola who deals with the actual test and its design. If you take it again and do worse, you are screwing yourself. And I mean take me for example, i am in OCS PLC with a flight contract (SNA) and I got 5/6/6. I am also a poli sci major at Colgate University, which if you don't know, is a liberal arts college. So i think as long as you have a good gpa and get good recs, you will be fine. Good luck and if you are new to this forum really take a good look at it. There is some really helpful information that circulates here.

Since I've been in college (Fall 2002), as long as you pass the ASTB and flight physical and have a respectable GPA/PFT, getting a flight guarantee is not an issue. I've even known people who didn't pass the ASTB but got their scores waived to get guarantees. So, if you go ahead and apply now before the flood gates close, you probably have a good chance of getting one with those scores. Good luck!
