Fiscal year slots

I finished primary two weeks ago and am waiting to select next week. I've been hearing rumors about the selection possibilities of "the new fiscal year" since before I even started API. Has anyone had an experience with slots opening up at the start of the fiscal year where they had been seemingly nonexistent at the end of September? I think everyone I've spoken to and told that I am selecting the first week of October said something to the effect of, "well, it's a new fiscal year" and I just don't know if that really means something.

All I know is that slots opened up at the end of this fiscal year. Can't really say about the beginning.

Yeah, thanks. I'm putting helos down and would be happy to fly them. I was just wondering what people thought about those rumors.

There is always a rumor going on about when slots are going to open up and why. In my humble opinion, the Navy could do a lot better job planning for when slots are going to come open. I selected last last August, and there had been only 1 jet slot a week for the month prior to that, and P-3's were completely closed. The week I selected, 12 guys got jets and a lot of them had a lot lower NSS's than guys from the previous weeks. It is a total crap shoot, and anyone below the rank of Commander probably does not know anything about what is going to be available.

Helos are fun as hell, if you put them down as your #1 choice you can pretty much bank on getting it. Good luck.

not so true anymore... HT's are getting backed up, when I selected (FEB) guys were getting sent P-3s who wanted helos.
