The Commanding Officer on an Amphibious Ship (Gator Navy) always stressed vigorously on having field day while at sea for 30 consecutive days, that's all the crew heard was field day, field day, field day....One day while at sea, the Commanding Officer decided to have Captain's Call....again, he stressed the importance of having field day, and finally, he talked a little about General Quarters to make sure that all personnel should know their assigned stations in case of flooding or possible sinking.
After he got done speaking, he asked, I'm opening for question. Some young sailor says "Uhhh Captain, do we FIELD DAY THE SHIP BEFORE WE SINK?"
