Hey...Just wondering if there are any fellow females that would like to chat and possibly get to know each other before PLC> Is anyone going in this summer?

"I'm friendly enough" meaning that even though you're in PLC and I'll be in OCS, that I'd still like to chat, if you want. Its mostly just me being a smart a$$. OCS 189 is the June '05 class. I'll be there.

I think that my friend, Megan, will be in that class with you. You should look out for her. That would be cool. So, how old are you? whats your current status? Location, PFT, worries, strengths...etc...

Hi! Yes, I'm hoping for OCC 189, ground contract, but I'm still waiting to hear if I'm selected or not. Must be nice to already know! Hope to see you in June!

past, present, future

Well now, lets see. I'm in Seattle, WA, graduated from the University of Washington last June in a major that won't be too common at OCS- Fine Arts: Painting. Born in SW Washington. I've wanted to be in the Marines ever since high school when my dad, a former Marine ('61-67) introduced the idea of OCS and PLC to me.
I got accepted with the January class in November, but since there isn't a female January class, I go to the June class. It was some weird arrangement that my OSO was able to pull off.
My last PFT was a 272, and I have every intention of bringing that up. 70 sec hang, 93 crunches, 24:30 run. The run will definately get lower as I'm training to run the Vancouver BC marathon in May. Three years ago I would never have thought I was the type who'd be able to run ONE mile without walking, much less be getting ready for a marathon, followed by the Marines, so I've got some catching up to do in regards to my run time.
I'm 24 years old, and should I make it through OCS (which I will!!!) I will be commissioned 3 days before my 25th birthday. So I'm not as young as many, but I'm not old yet either.
My best strengths, I think, are my stubborness and awe. Stubborness will help me keep chugging along and awe will keep me in check- trying to do my very very very best. Physically, I think I'll be able to get through it all respectably. Everything about OCS scares me- I think that's a strength also, fear shows respect.
I just want to get in and get into it. I've waited a long time for this and have given it a lot of serious thought. 2 days before I left for a solo roadtrip from Panama City, FL to Seattle, WA last summer, my OSO emailed me with his proposition for the "apply in November, go in June" program he arranged. I then drove across the country for 2 weeks, thinking of little but that. I think somewhere around Wyoming, when I finally got to the hills again, I realized I couldn't picture myself doing anything else. Gotta try. Gotta make it. I knew I would grow old and regret not trying.
So that's my 2 minute story! Your turn! :)

Megan- hope to see you at OCS 189 as well!

Well, still have to have my package reviewed by the board but contracted last Tuesday for OCC 189 Air. Have some good recommendations and an OSO who can convince anyone of anything so hopefully I'll get what I want :)

Yes, out of Dallas OSO. I'm going to the preOCS weekend.
I'll graduate in May from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and a minor in History.
