From what I've heard and read a little, pilots aren't being assigned to F/A-18's and AV-8B's any more. First and foremost does anyone know for sure if this is true and if so is it because of the new JSF. The JSF isn't scheduled for the the fleet until 2012. So how can they already be snatching out the VMFA and VMA?

You nailed it in the last sentence. The JSF won't be out for several years. How would we get by with no new pilots for 8 years, JSF or no? Someone's been feeding you the crap sandwich. Even in the military, if it sound ridiculous, it probably isn't accurate.

Those Marines @ Kingsville & Meridian would be pretty disappointed if that were true. Actually have a shortage of Marine hornet drivers right now. .but that will pass.

Ok well that took some worry off my back. I want to fly F18s but I pray to God that I don't get stationed in Meridian. I went there as enlisted for my MOS school. Not a lot to do in the town. There's a mall. That's it.

I asked to go to Meridian. Yeah, not too much to do, but lot of great places 3 hour drive (weekends). . .You will be too busy during the week to care. I just wanted to check out the all digital "C" model.

i know what you mean on the weekends. that first weekend we got there mardi gras was going so we caught a greyhound down to new orleans and crashed the girls dorms. :) I suppose a place is only as bad as you make it. so what's the main difference between kingsville and meridian?

Kingsville flies the "A" model . .meridian flies the "C"

meridian is close to Memphis, New Orleans, Tuscaloosa, & Pcola. .

You'll be happy either place if you want jets.
