Hey I'm not sure how many of you guys build model airplanes, but I'm contemplating getting back into it on occasion IOT give the mind a chance to relax in between study time. Anyways, if you got to www.aircraftresourcecenter.com , they have an outstanding reference section and gallery on the how to's of model building. I've built a total of probably 8 models in my entire, but seeing this website got me pumped to try one over the winter.

What kind of airbrush, if any, do you use?
Handbrushing a plane... egh... the thought kind of scares me. You can get away with it on small-scale ships, but planes? Well, I guess someone's got to be steady like that.

^ When you're a kid, you make do with what you've got. Most of the planes I made at that age were 1/100 anyway, so it wasn't that bad at all. Now I can mock the losers who have to use pens to pick out details on their models because all they know how to do is wave an airbrush around. Pens are teh gheyz0rs.

All the planes I've built I've used handbrushes on. I didn't have the money to buy an airbrush, and most of them turn out pretty damn good. Now I've got the money for an airbrush, but hardly enough time to build models. You can get pretty good with a brush if you're patient.

yeah.... small scale + small budget = handbrushing... i guess that's why i've stuck to 1/700 waterline

I have a Badger 150 I got in college just because I used it on a Prowler once when I was in college, and that's the last time. Subsequently, the Prowler got thrown away during the last PCS. I'm contemplating using Hobby Lobby's 40% off online coupon that they have and getting a new Paasche or Iwata airbrush, and wait until their models go 50% off and buying a Phrog and a Hasegawa Harrier. The wife knows all the sales.

BTW, handbrushing sucks, but if you use spraypaint cause you're cheap like I used to, you can get some pretty awesome models. Panel lines and weathering are the key to sweet models.

Yeah ARC is awesome. Theres also a good community of Drivers in the "Real Aviation" section, including a Raptor Driver (interesting conversations). Plus you get to see what you can make a model look like and then hang your head in shame at how yours doesnt look that real.

I use an Aztec Airbrush hooked up to a standard garage aircompressor using a pressure regulator. I like it, it cleans up really easily compaired to others Ive used.
