Elective Rotation in Flight Surgery

OvertheLine

Looking for some help from any flight docs out there. I'll save the long story for the PMs, but here's the short version.

I am starting my intern year of residency this summer, mosty likely in the DC area but match day is 3/18, and during my first year I am allowed to take an elective rotation of my choosing (1 month). Without question I would like to do this in Flight Surgery ... to satisfy my own interest in aviation, but also to learn more about medical side of naval aviation so that I can be a better doc to some of my future patients (it's a small world so I'll save more personal details for PMs).
My first question is whether setting up this kind of rotation is even possible as I am a civilian. If you think this might be a possibility, where should I start?

Thanks!
