If the majority of the debris eventually heads all the way to the bottom the clean up effort should be more manageable. The real danger for ships and subs is from large neutrally buoyant metal debris, such as fishing vessels, ocean containers etc.. Zig Zagging and actively pinging for the duration of a deployment would not be fun, but it would keep the deep draft hulls from becoming compromised. As I said, let's hope most of it goes to the bottom over time.
