DoD approves new social networking site

This strikes me as a mostly good idea, although I admittedly have no way to know. I'm curious about implementation.

"Websites for Heroes." Doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Facebook, but it looks neat. Thoughts?

I deleted my Myspace account. What a waste of time and a security risk.

Can someone tell me why this new site is any better than Myspace? It's not. In fact I feel like it is quite vestigial. Just because someone lobbied the QOL people, money is being wasted.

The Opsec argument is a cop-out. The bandwidth argument is a cop-out, too. There are plenty of ways to get back the mission-critical bandwidth without completely banninating a perfectly good site that all of your friends are already on.

I'm pretty sure the rules will relax. I can still remember when I couldn't even check my Hotmail account at the base library. Now it's no big deal.
