Making my way up the ladder to the marines, and I just took my physical. Still waiting for the results on the ASTB, but I feel like that went well. What's bugging me is i may have hit the end of my potential aviation career: I failed the depth perception test.
Going to take a few more next week, find out if i just goofed. Has anybody had this happen to them, or know of it happening? I'm just hoping this does not mean I falt out can't fly. I have my private pilot license and have never had a problem with depth perception before, so I'm hoping I'll test again and they won't find any problems. Any help is much appreciated, this one's got me losing sleep.

contemplating applying again...
before i went to MEPS my recruiter told me their depth perception test was jacked up... i failed it. a week or so later i went to a civilain optometrist and was tested- i passed with flying colors. he wrote a letter, signed it and sent it to my recruiter. no problems.

I failed my depth perception test at MEPS. I have yet to take my flight physical whereby the eye tests are really the key. The Lt. at our recruiting office failed his initial depth perception test and he had to retake it-which he passed. However, he did tell me that if you don't jam your forehead against the testing unit and place you nose in the exact spot, you can't decipher the circles. I wouldn't worry about it you will be fine.

I've been pilot for almost 12 years. I failed my firt test as well. I usual take the veroof stenograph test. I'm not even sure if they till use it. It's the test with the lines and the tech keeps changing the depth of one line. I found it a lot easier then the circle randon dot or whatever they call it. On my last flight physical I took the radon test with the glasses and did fine. It very well could be a mental thing. Just keep driving on.

Hope you guys are right. Sounds encouraging, at least I'll sleep better tonight. Like I said, they've got me lined up to take some tests next week, so hopefully I'll get this taken care of and I'll be able to just leave it on the ground.
Helmet, think I might try that. Catcher, thanks for the tip, and Bobby, the encouragement's much appreciated.
