Corpus apt referral

If any of you are looking for a pretty nice one or two bedroom place on the southside of Corpus (not on the island), check out Summerhouse Apartments. They're pretty quiet, in a good neighborhood, about five minutes from an HEB and an HEB Plus, and about fifteen minutes from base (minus the CCAD 500 delay at oh-dark-thirty). They're pretty military friendly, the apartments are well-maintained, and they all come with a garage attached to the apartment. If I was going to do it over again, I probably would've gotten the two bedroom place and a roommate, but this one bedroom place is really big and well laid-out.

If any of you decide to live here, let me know so I can put you down as a referral--they've got a discount promotion for current residents so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Yes, I am a cheap bastard. That is all.

Or you can rent a room from me starting in October. More will follow (aka, I have to buy a place first!)...

But then they would have to LIVE with you Kmac!

And that part is just an added benefit! Look at the wealth of information I have about the best platform ever! You're just jealous now, aren't you?

Tax question... since renting a room is to be treated like a separate rental property, is there anything illegal with having the tenet pay for all of the utilities and have a lower base rate? It's gaming the system for sure*, but somehow I don't see how it would be illegal.

*Rent counts as income, and therefore is taxed as such. To minimize the income (and therefore pay less tax), I was thinking that a tenet could just pay for the utilities (which would be a large portion of an all-inclusive rent anyway). Isn't this how most apartment complexes do it?

I had a feeling something like this would happen--my thread just became the dumping ground for every dude looking for a house or something to sell (yes, I'm looking at you, MB... <grin>).
