Hey, I'm a sophmore and hoping to get accepting to the PLC-Aviation Program. I have my application done and all the other documents. One of my questions is that I have five references that are required with the application, but I have a meeting with my local rep. here and was wondering if I should use his reference even if he doesn't know me, or stick with a professor (or can he write a letter or something to go along with my app.)?

Also, Friday (8/26) I go to take my ASTB, PFT, hand in application, get picture taken, give a copy of B.C. and S.S. card. What scores (at least) should I get to secure myself a spot for OCC 192/PLC next summer?

Thanks!

When you say local rep, I assume you mean State Representative or something, that would trump say 1 of 5 professors assuming he gives you a good letter. You need a 250 - 300 pft, 3+ gpa and 3's, 4's and 5's on the ASVAB. If you are in certain parts of US, it will be harder for you to get in than in other places, so it's more important for you to score better than your local competition rather than the natiional competition.

I'm putting in a lot of work... I talked to my OSO and he said a sort of a cover letter for my representative would be a good way to finalize the application (along with the 5 references). I'll be testing at the OSS in Philadelphia, so I don't know how competitive it is there. I should to be able to get straight 7s on my ASTB. My GPA isn't great, low 2s, mostly because I didn't know what I was doing with myself early on, but my grades are steadily getting better. I'm really excited about becoming a Marine and hopefully going to OCS next summer, I just want to make sure my hopes aren’t dashed. Also, if I hand in my application, ASTB, PFT and contract on the august 26th, when can I expect an answer on whether or not I got accepted for OCC-192?

Thanks.
