Computing Final NSS

I was messing around on the CNATRA website avoiding studying for finals and I found the grading they use to compute our final NSS at the end of primary. Here's the equation and I expect it to be accurate because the last revision to the document was 8 Mar 2006. Use it as you will.

{(PA+PS+IA+AA+AS)/6]+[(PF+IF)/2]+(AF*2)

PA=Primary Academic NSS
PS=Primary Simulator NSS
IA=Intermediate Academics NSS
IS=Intermediate Simulator NSS
AA=Advance Academic NSS
AS=Advanced Simulator NSS
PF=Primary Flight NSS
IF=Intermediate Flight NSS
AF=Advanced Flight NSS

That can't be the equation for the primary NSS. That equation includes advanced NSS. Also, we have discussed thoroughly how to compute your average score and from that you have to compare it to the last 60 students to get your NSS on a bell shaped curve.

I think that is the beauty of the equation. If you know your grades in primary and your prospective pipeline doesn't have an intermediate stage, you can plug it all in and solve the equation to find out what your advanced NSS will be. This way you can just skip advanced and move right into the hornet out of primary! I can't believe they leaked this.:D

All that's left is to find what's on the other side of the equals sign and we'll be set.

And, according to the CNATRA website, you can still select S3s or F-14s. But you can't believe everything you read...

Either way, even if you take out the advanced and intermediate stuff, that equation doesn't come close on the Primary NSS. If academics were weighted as much as flights I wouldn't be in jets.

If you are actually interested, the formula is in the MPTS book that you are issued in primary and I know it has been posted in previous threads. You might as well toss a bunch of chicken bones into a fire and pray for an answer, because that formula is like an enigma wrapped in a puzzle. When you are in Primary, ask stucon or your class advisor, and they may be able to help you out.

You shouldn't go through Primary constantly worrying about your NSS. Just do your best and put what you want as your first choice.
