Good evening,

I report to NAS Pensacola NLT 25 June and have started looking for housing - what is a 'good' commute to consider? Appreciate it!

Someplace within 30 minutes of driving time (accounting for traffic) is a good rule of thumb. I find any more than that gets frustrating.

Contrary to popular belief, a little bit of a drive is a good thing, I think. I've had it both ways, living literally 15 seconds out of he gate, and 45-50 min away (before traffic wrecks etc) somewhere in a 15-20 min range is nice to drink coffee, listen to whatever noise pollution wakes you up and mentally ease into the day. It also makes you a better planner in terms of time management, being too close makes everything feel rushed when you lull yourself into way to late wakeups.

Do what you want. There are no solutions, only compromises.
