OCS Civilian Intel Community Sponsor of OCS

I read in Robert Gates' biography that the CIA sponsored his time in the Air Force as an intelligence briefer. Does this type of program still exist? Or are members of the civilian intelligence community valued as reservists?

Not sure it gets you any closer to your "Double-O" credential.

Honestly, the 3-letter agency "uniformed folks" I know all started out "in uniform", then migrated to various agencies at the end of their MSR while staying in the reserves. Can't speak to how often that happens.

I am unaware of any program that exists like that presently.

As for civilian Intel O's being valued for reservists, that is certainly the case but it might not be as valued as you think as it largely depends on how your reserve billet and civilian jobs match up. While the Navy will sometimes take your civilian experience into account that is not always the case since the Navy cares about its own needs first and not yours, even if you are doing intel stuff for both jobs. Being a civilian intel O would definitely help if you were trying to apply for Navy Reserve Intel O but once you get in the Navy is not looking for their officers to be specialists but generalists and leaders.
