Even if you have speed for an air start you ain't gonna do that in the pattern. No one has mentioned how long it takes to get a good air start. As mentioned above, just no time for that below a couple thousand feet. And Dash-1 eject guidance? The air start argument is BS.

Correct. In the scenario of an instrument approach, the biggest problem isn't airspeed, it is how much altitude you have below you and thus time to get the motor re-lit. Even at best glide, from 1600' you are probably just barely getting the JFS online, much less a good restart of the motor. And I agree, 250 knots is plenty comfortable in any fighter aircraft I've ever flown.

They have a hydrazene system that burns and gets the motor turning pretty quickly. Again, not saying they are right or wrong, just saying that they fly 300kts because their Dash-1 says it's their min safe speed and they are the AF...

the EPU (the hydrazine system you speak of) does not crank the motor.....it is for hyds and electricity only, like the RAT in the T-45. Much like the Hornet, your only two options are an unassisted spooldown airstart, or an assisted airstart using the JFS (akin to the APU in the Hornet) to crank the motor......though you obviously don't have the crossbleed option from the 2nd motor you don't have.
