I will be changing wireless providers when I leave my job in 2 weeks and wanted to know if there are any deals out there with a good carrier that provides military discounts/programs etc. Otherwise, Verizon seems to be the best deal with the best coverage all over the U.S. since I could be in a lot of different places.

Thanks.

I know Nextel has pretty good military discounts (prices off phones and I think 10 % of each monthly bill) and all the military people I know that have them get great coverage. Also, they have awesome (and free) customer service, which most companies don't seem to these days.

I have to say.... I hate Nextel. I've had mine since January, and I wish I had never gotten rid of Verizon. Coverage is iffy at some points and some cell networks dont support nextel <Nextel operated on the 800MHz freq>. Also, any audio speakers around you will catch interference when you have a call. Customer Service is really good though.

I agree.

You might find a better deal somewhere else and save a few bucks, but you can't beat the coverage of Verizon.

I've never used Verizon... I'm on AT&T and saved a pretty good amount. I think it's 15% more minutes each month (free) plus 15% off the bill. In addition you save 10% on accessories and I got a really good price on my phone. Also, they sign you to a one-year contract instead of two.

Except in Meridian. Verizon doesn't even service here, so I can't update my preferred roaming list.

Verizon does give a military discount . . . off the top of my head I think it's 10%. And I'd agree service is great in P-cola area . . . except in my squadron spaces where it mysteriously fluctuates.

As far as AT&T goes, I'll add that I got reception wherever I was in Quantico with my AT&T phone...
