Cell Phone Contract

I've been living in Milton while going to API and had no problem with my T-Mobile service at all while driving from Milton to Pcola. Now I've checked into Primary and I realized that I lose my signal almost entirely about halfway between Whiting Pines and Whiting Field (around where Stewart and Dogwood merge). I called T-Mobile to see about cancelling my contract and was told that since I get a signal at home, I can't cancel the contract. I explained to her that it's a MOBILE phone and that it does me no good if I can only use it at home, but was basically told that I'm stuck with them for another 5 months. Has anyone else had any success in cancelling a cell phone contract in similar situations?

Are you sure it's the service and not the phone. I had a silmilar problem with Verizon a few years ago....I couldn't get service in any building or house......t when I went into the store their phones worked and mine didn't so I got a new phone and everything worked fine.

Neither my phone nor my wife's phone works. They're different brands and neither of them is the little cheapo phone that comes free for signing up.

How the hell do they know if you get a signal in your home. Do they send a representative out there........if not go to somebody else and say you don't get service in your home.

Pretty much invincible
T-Mobile can actually pull up a map of your neighborhood and see where the cell towers reach. It's kind of cool.

Review the copy of your contract and see if there is a loophole for you. It's also possible that the person you spoke to is an idiot...and wrong to boot. Are you sure it isn't radar interference from the base? In that case you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has a totally reliable phone in that area. My phone drops out from the back gate of NASP all the way to the end of 19. Talk to your friends and see if ayone else has that problem who is not with T-mobile.

I'm not driving fast, I'm flying low
They have no way of actually knowing how well you are covered. My mothers house is in line of sight to a tower. It's also right under high voltage lines, which kill the signal with interference. The only downside is that they probably noted that you called and admitted having signal in your home, so you're going to have to be a bit better at smooth talking than I am. Mayhaps have the Mrs. call and explain that every since the neighbors installed that DirecTV dish, she can't get a call to connect. Or something along those lines.

You should also check to be sure your phone has the latest software updates. I'm not sure how T-Mobile does it, but Verizon has a *-number you can dial and update it. Or you can take it in to the store.

If all else fails, and it's that big of a problem, you can eat the fee of cancelling your contract and go with a new provider. For what it's worth, my Verizon service only doesn't work at the Whiting NEX (across the street from the damn radar).
