why would a marine want to drive a ship is the real question

I don't know of a Marine CAG yet, however, with this whole air wing intergration thing, they said it can and more than likely will happen

There is a Marine Corps General in charge of an ESG (Expeditionary Strike Group). This is an example of a Marine in charge of a bunch of ships....but I do not think there will ever be a Marine Corps Ship CO.

Never say never my friend. Marines have their way of getting power

Not exactly.

Tango, you don't get to command a CVN until you've gone through Nuke Power school for one (to command a nuclear carrier), and then had several other assignments including command of a large ship already. This is why several gator freighters and auxiliaries are commanded by aviators. Most carrier skippers have also already been XO of a CVN. You don't just get the slot thrown at you; there's a specific track to command a carrier. And I don't think a Marine is going to waste 8 years of his career learning to be a squid just so he can command a carrier. Ain't gonna happen. Marine CAG, ESG, or CSG commander I can see, but not a carrier skipper.

CVW-9 has a Marine Colonel set to take over as DCAG soon (if not already)

Yep but he hasn't become DCAG yet. I'm cruising with CVW-9.

I am learning alot from you guys out here.
Well while we are this are, do you guys know if Marines ever get submarine duty. I know that sounds a little impossible, but you never know.

I know Recon guys have, in the past, trained on sub insertion. However if you mean part of the crew, then no.

Something else to maybe think about.... think b4 posting to ensure the posts relevancy
