Canadians Face Growing Marijuana Issues In Afghanistan

OK... came across this on Reuters. Kinda funny, but can definitely see how it can be VERY problematic.

My favorite is the one soldier's response:

"Sir, three years ago before I joined the army, I never thought I'd say 'That damn marijuana'."

Or the fact that they tried burning it until some soldiers downwind started experiencing "ill effects . . ."

There's an original excuse if someone happened to get popped on a piss test. "Sir I was downwind of the Canadian Army's positions".

Now the hippies have an excuse to go fight the war on terror. They can be our marijuana forest clearing team.

Send the hippys into the weed, and then send in thermobaric weapons just to be sure its all gone.

We need to be careful. The wasteful burning of the plants could give them another thing to protest!

In the 70's USNs drug testing policy was anyone under 36 was subject to testing. My shop supervisor was 36; he named his pot plant Brucie. At NAS Lemoore, it was not uncommon to be walking across the commmon area late at night....between the old exchange and the chow hall....to smell that smell.

Where did the age cut off originate from?

The prevailing thought was that older folks did not do drugs. Sort of like giving the green light to those above that magical age.

It was also not terribly uncommon to see the same name appear more than once for being sent to CCU due to pot busts.

I did not partake with my boss (or anyone else). I figured that the guys flying with the radar and ECM stuff that I fixed deserved better.
