This reminded me I need to pick up The Hunters by James Salter. Supposed to be a really great read in this vein.
I’m sure it is mentioned earlier in this thread, but for WWI I recommend “The Goshawk Squadron” by Derek Robinson. If you are looking for a short read and a bit of a laugh read “The Bandy Papers” by Donald Jack. It is more of a spoof but is funny.
The Intruders is one of the best, yet underappreciated, books in Coonts’ repertoire.
