BDCP to USMC OCS

I was selected for BDCP and have been in the program for 6 months or so. I was wondering it were at all possible to go to Marine Corps OCS rather than Navy OCS. I really think I can be of more use to the country as a ground marine, than working on a ship. I have a Marine active duty 0-6 willing to help me, he just wants me to find out if there were any other procedures. Thanks ahead of time.

I am not sure if its possible, but methinks you will def have to pay something back to the navy for the checks your getting. Or maybe because the USMC is in the department of the navy you'll be able to switch over somehow. Again, I am not sure...HAHA capitalization of Marine

You can't "pay back" the Navy. It isn't an incentive pay or a scholarship, it is ACTIVE DUTY pay. You are either going to have to try to get a conditional release (good luck), or do a transfer once you commission through the Navy.

sir you are absolutely correct my mistake. Yeah we are active duty pay and you are technically enlisted until you go to OCS. may allah be with you.

Talk to your recruiter. I have NO idea if it is even possible to get released from BDCP to go into the Marines. A conditional release is usually to release a guy enlisted in the reserves to go active duty into OCS in another service or something similar.

But ask your recruiter and see if it is even possible. I'm sure after getting you into BDCP (a BIG feat in and of itself) he probably won't be pleased, but see what you can do.

Yeah I will tell you that your recruiter will not be happy with your decision. But if its really what you want, I say try. Whats the worst that can happen, they tell you no?
