BDCP Questions...??

How often does the Board convene? What types of credentials are essential for acceptance? Furthermore, what types of credentials can add much support to your package? How many times can you apply for BDCP and does anyone have any advice for filling out the package. Is there any way to figure out the direct quota the U.S. Navy is accepting for the applying period? Final question... I've completed half the required hours for my private pilot license, how much of an impact might this make to finish the hours and completing the license ( I'm applying for the Pilot Program ). Thanks for any advice you can offer me!

Duluth, MN...hmm you must be cold...anyhow, it seems like you are worrying too much.

Here is my advice...settle down, and talk to your recruiter. Where are you going to college?

Did you talk to your recruiter and get things figured out yet? Applying to OCS/BDCP is a long process.

If you can't find a recruiter PM me and I can set you up with my recruiter out of Minneapolis...if he isn't your recruiter he will set you up with one.

As far as your application goes: sell yourself.

Put everything on there, even if you think it's insignificant. There are no make-or-break factors to getting selected so don't look for some magical formula for success. The closest thing to something like that is to just be well-rounded and to sell yourself to the best of your ability.

Get good letters of recommendation, get involved in extra-curriculars, do well on the ASTB, have a decent GPA as well. Again, there are not make-or-break factors here, you just need to fill out your package, apply, and see.

One last piece of advice that I can give is attention to detail. Scour your package for grammatical mistakes and spelling errors.

SWCS... There's a Chief (not sure of his name, yet) coming from Minneapolis to see me Thursday, July 10th. I know that his rate is "CS", but that's all I know. Does this sound like your "OR", if so, can you offer any opinions to his habits.

CS - Culinary Specialist? :)

You sure he's coming to talk to you about officer programs? The only enlisted officer recruiters that I have ever heard of are the Corpsmen that recruit for the various medical programs.

My recruiter is a a master chief, he helped me with BDCP, just thought I would throw that out there.

My recruiter is a cheif culinary specialist...he was a cook on a submarine.
If that is who your recruiter is you are in luck. He is awesome and pretty much tells you like it is. Actually all of the guys at Minneapolis NRD are really good.

Don't even worry, you will like him. He is very laid back, don't worry about being dressed up and stuff. But beware, he is late a lot haha.

You must not have heard of many officer recruiters than because I have heard that most officer recruiters are enlisted.

I didn't know that - the couple that I have met have all been officers.

On a side note, it's spelled "Chief". If you're going to grill the foreign guy in that other thread about running spellcheck on his posts and posting with correct spelling and grammar (despite the fact that English is his second language) then at least do so yourself, please.

Up here in MN we spell things a bit differently. Besides, one spelling error is not the same as what he wrote. His paragraph was entirely messed up to the point where it was hard to understand and hurt just looking at it.

My apolgies to you however as you are so smart; if only I was as smart as you. It gives me great joy to know that someday you will be the one flying those million dollar air craft around. I just hope to God I am not standing below.

Fortunately for you, I'm not SNA/NFO and never was. I'm SWO/IP.

Feel free to blast away at that guy...when you, too can speak a second language with nary an error. I'm done with this conversation.

I do speak a second language and a third, but Spanish isn't one of them. :)
