Basketball?

shotcalla10

what percent of RL officers get jets?
Is there some kind of an Intramural Basketball equivalent in the Navy? Any of you guys play in such leagues? If so, how is the competition level? Just curious, because I played basketball (and golf) all my life and was just wondering if I'll be able to continue to do so if I'm lucky enough to be selected to join the Navy.

I actually didn't play at Cal, I had to give up basketball letters and few Division 2 and 3 college scholarships to goto Cal for the academics (parents, bleh). But I continued to play competitive club basketball. So the tryouts are open to everyone in the Navy? If i get selected for SNA, would it be smart to take on extracurricular while working my ass off to do well in flight school? I'm pretty torn right now because I started avoiding the basketball courts lately to make sure that I don't get any injuries in the next few months and just wondering if I'm going to have to avoid extra risks of getting injured for the rest of my, i.e. basketball, snowboarding, etc...

I tore some tendoms/ligaments in my hand and broke my thumb skiing over spring break which ruined OCS this summer for me... avoid it

To the OP,

I think you would be wise to forego any competitive athletics until the RAG...maybe later. That little bit of fun, combined with your competitiveness might spell an early end to your career.

you should wait till you graduate all your training and have the designation you came in for. other wise if you get hurt you could end up never being any thing except an attrite.

Thanks for your inputs. approximately a month and a half of wait to see if i'll be pro rec'ed. the medical is going to make me sh** my pants after reading everything on AW regarding those who got NPQ'd for all kinds of things. atleast it's got me praying every day =)

Don't get the impression that you have to live in a closet for the next few months or so, just don't do anything extreme that might ruin your chances to becoming a Naval Officer.
