I was wondering what is the requirement for an aviation slot in the Marine Corps? I'm currently in my Junior year of college, and I'm considering going for PLC for the summer. But ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to fly.

Well, my biggest concern is my vision, I know for sure that it's worse than any minimum requirements to fly, so is there a solution to this problem? Does the military accept laser surgical procedure to cure this problem? And what are my chances of getting a flight slot in regarding the vision problem? What's the process in getting a slot for aviation in the Corps? I know that you have to go through some testing, and some physical examination. Usually what kind of testing do they administer, is it mostly academics, what is incorporated in those test??And lastly, does anyone know the requirements for the physical?

I really appreicate any reply! Thanks!

well to be honest your too late for this PLC combined class..The option you have left is OCC, which is for college seniors and graduates..As far as vision goes you can either A) Become an NFO (not a pilot but your still in the air) B) Get PRK surgery, the only accepted surgery at the moment....Find your nearest Officer Selection OFfice to talk to a recruiter, You will have to pass an aviation aptititude test- ASTB test..You will need an in depth flight physical..You will need a great PFT Score since you'll be OCC..Definitely run some searches on the site because a lot of the questions you may ask have probably already been answered..

ok, i am not going to get into the physical because there is another post on this site that has all that trash. your vision is a problem, you can get a waiver for PRK surgery which i believe there is a post on that specific area on this site. you have to have at least a 1000 on your SATs or 25 on ACTs or you can take the ASVAB if you have neither. then you must take the aviation test. there is a gouge that you can download from this site that is a study guide which prepares you for the test. just so you know, you arent the first person to ask these questions. just search around this site and especially under the Marine section or Marine Officer Candidate School. good luck.
