ASTB Standard Scores

I wanted to know how the OAR scoring effects your overall ASTB scores. I just read other threads and it seems the better your scores the higher the OAR. I scored 6/7/7 but only had a 47 OAR. I thought my three scores were solid but now wonder what the 47 means.

Other stats:
23yrs old,
20 Pull ups
100 Sit ups
21:30 3miles...

What are my chances for pilot contract?

If you are going USMC I think they care more about your PT score and overall package; the ASTB is more of a pass/fail with them. At least that was my understanding in dealing with the USMC OSO.

As the above-poster stated, the Marine Corps uses it as a pass/fail from my understanding so you should be good. If you're going for OCC as opposed to PLC, I think its more competitive so I'd try to get your run down a minute or so.

I'm pretty sure the USMC doesn't even look at your OAR score, at least for pilot. When my OSO called to tell me my ASTB score, I was curious to know what my OAR was and asked, but to my surprise, he didn't even know what that was.

The OAR (Officer Aptitude Rating) is a score that comes from the Math/Verbal (MVT) and Mechanical Comprehension (MCT) portions of the ASTB. The score ranges from a low of 35 (I think) up to a high of 80. It is not used for pilot or NFO.
