ASTB scores

For a navy pilot it is 3/4/4 and for nfo it is 3/4/3. These are the mins but to be competitive, you probably need to have all 6's or above.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to go to marines plc this summer so any info helps.
 
6/6/6 and just got a pilot slot for May 2005 commissioning. A buddy of mine had 5's and got a pilot slot, but his GPA was really good (~3.75). Keep in mind that they use a formula of which GPA has a big part (although ASTB is bigger).

I have noticed some inconsistent minimum ASTB score requirements for Marine Aviation. I have searched the forum and read the minimum scores for Marines as 4/6/6(USNA), 4/6/4 (NROTC Admin Manual) and some have said the Corps only requires the first two scores, a min. 4/6. I also found the MCO on Field accession of SNA & SNFO and the order says they only require 4/6. Which is it?

Previous posts on this thread are correct. However, you can get a waiver if you don't get the min. I know lots of Marine Option Midshipmen who got all 5's and got a waiver for the one 6 (4/6/4).

looks like I got alot of studying to do. But I'm still a freshman at asu so I got plenty of time to retake if need be. What happens if I don't get the scores I need after the last try. Where would I go from there?
 
For the Marines I'm fairly sure you need to get a 4 on the AQR and 6 on the PFAR if you want pilot, and 4 on the AQR and 6 on the FOFAR if you want NFO. So, 4 on the AQR and 6 on the FAR for the billet you want.
 
Study Strategies

Not to change the topic, but the first time I took the ASTB I got 4/4/4 and really didn't put much effort into study. I think the navy mins have now been raised to 4/5/5.

For those of you that got tremendously high scores (talking 7+) what did you do for your study strategy? What did you study besides the gouge on this website? When is it best to start studying? How long/what should you study? Is the computerized version easier?, etc.

Sorry for so many questions. Next time I take the ASTB I want to do destroy the exam and do incredibly well.

When I took the ASTB, I had the computerized version (form #5) and I got 8/8/8 56. I studied for the 3 days before the test. I used the gouges and ARCO Military Flight Aptitude book (6th edition). I went through everything, including the practice tests for the AFOQT. I timed myself for each section, and I typed my answers into my laptop (since I knew that I was taking the computerized version) so that it would seem more like the actual test. Most importantly, when I felt like I needed a break I took one. I hope that this provides some help for you...

Well I got 62 9/9/9. Here is what I did. About a month before the test I went out and got the Arco book, the Cliffs book, and found the gouge here. Then I went through the cliffs book and took the test cold turkey and timed. I figured out the areas that I had problems on and learned how to do the problems. I studied and went to a tutor and he helped me with all the stuff I missed. I then took the Arco test timed and did the same thing, tutor and all. Then I took the gouge and same thing, with a tutor again. I studied my ass off. I got a good nights sleep the night before and said a big prayer.

My oar is not as good as I wanted it to be but 62 will work for me and I dont want to risk dropping any of my 9s or even my oar by taking it again in pursuit of elusive perfection. I am going for SNA so I think the 9s will help me out a bunch.
