Grading is a complicated thing... I'll try to clear it up as much as I can. Your correct answers for each section are multiplied by different weights and then added together for the different ratings:
AQR (don't remember what it stands for)
PFAR (pilot flight aptitude rating)
FOFAR (flight officer flight aptitude rating)
PBI (pilot biographical index)not used anymore
FOBI (flight officer bio. index) not used...
OAR (officer aptitude rating, or maybe overall aptitude rating)
The biographical scores are still computed but the selection board does not currently use them when deciding who to accept/reject.
Different sections of the test (math/verbal, mechanical, ect...) are weighted differently for each rating. Not all ratings are based on all sections. The actual weighting process is too complicated for me to explain here. If you want, you can email your phone number and I'll call and explain it. It would just be too much typing to be productive, and this post is long enough as it is...
Anyway, once these "raw" scores are calculated, they are then converted to numbers on the stanine scale. The arco book should explain that scale. It's similar to a percentile rating and is based on how other people perform on the test (that's the way I understand it anyway.) You want these numbers to be high, with 9 being the highest attainable score. There is not a way for you to calculate these scores on your own... they're based on how you do in comparison to everyone else.
So basically, after all this lengthy explanation, I cannot tell you how to calculate your own score. However, I can tell you that competitive packages are being sent up with scores of AQR 6 PFAR 7 for those seeking SNA designators.
This post is so freaking long - you've picked my brain completely. I hope it helped.
