ASTB - Check

First time poster from Middle Tennessee State University. Just took the ASTB last week with a 61/7/8/7.

I've read this forum for a while and hope to take away a few things and give to others some help. Just for reference I am going through the Nashville recruiting office.

Woodfinx- PM sent. That's a damn good ASTB score. How are your grades? Right not, it's pretty tough to get a 1390/1370 slot. Hopefully by the time you went to OCS, the Navy will decide they need pilots and NFOs again. It's pretty brutal down here right now, lots of guys DORing or getting attrited for retarted things. I went through NRD Nashville as well, in fact I'm sure we've met at some point. Good luck, keep me in the loop.

What kinds of things are people getting attriting for (if you're allowed to say)? I'm hoping you mean retarded as in "stupid stuff 20 year olds do" as opposed to "nitpicky" reasons.

I plan on calling the Nashville recruiter tomorrow. Hopefully you both had positive experiences there. I'm also hoping they have a way for me to take the ASTB in say, Paducah, so I don't have to drive 2 hours just for a test.

foot- like every training command, people usually get attrited for injuries, failing tests, etc. Everyone down here is on good behavior because we all know how quickly an ARI can end your career. Not saying we don't go to the beach and drink beer all weekend, but we sure as hell don't drive there and back. Anyways, I highly doubt they will let you take it anywhere but Nashville. You need to go there in person anyways so they can put a face with a name. The entire process is like one long job interview. So I wouldn't get started with, "Hi this is fattestfoot and I'd like to take the ASTB in Kentucky." Your recruiter will want to personally meet you in his office which will be in Nashville. Nashville is a very busy NRD (it's no LA, but it's busy.) It may take awhile to build rapport with them and get things moving. Persistence is key here. Their recruiters and civilian personnel are TOP NOTCH. Period. Best of luck, welcome to the board.

3.8 GPA, 700 civilian flight hours. My recruiter seems fairly confident in me getting a good response in the September (if they happen) or October boards.

I've had a wonderful experience at Nashville. I expected to not be taken seriously at first (seeing as they get so many false/weak leads) but the first time I went in I had all my recommendations, transcripts, and documents ready to go and then I did fairly well on my ASTB. I think that kind of showed him I was taking it seriously and I've been taken wonderful care of since. In my job (mtsupilot09 if you know me then you will hopefully find this humorous) students waste my time often, I just treated the recruiter the way I like business to be conducted. Have your stuff together, show interest, don't pester (they aren't your mom), and they will get your packet together with no problems.

Me too. Which form and any lag/restart on the test?

The new Officer in charge of recruiting is very good. He follows up with me every week just to see how things are going.

Not sure which form (guess I didn't research it that much?) and there was a little lag but it wasn't terrible...still had plenty of time to check my answers.

I did too on Math and Reading. Ran out of time on Mechanical when I was overthinking. Can you reply to PMs?
