Anybody got a Sam Browne I can borrow?

So I'm in a sword detail next weekend that I did not forsee needing this item for. I talked to Buck at the Marine Shop, and he'll be glad to get me one here in time for $145 plus about $30 shipping. I would much prefer to borrow one from someone in the P'cola area in exchange for a 12 pack. Any takers?
Good times,
-Paul

Sorry dude, can't help. Just thought it was a funny post; is there any Marine on this site that hasn't borrowed/loaned a Sam Browne Belt? I think there's only 10 in the whole Corps, everyone just rotates them from one formal function to the next. I hear they're used for currency in Argentina.

I've lent mine to about 40 people so far, but I don't think it being in Cherry Point will help you.

Slick business man if I've ever seen one ... lets just say he is good at his job. I saw that MCA and Marine Shop are now working together. I don't know how the PX is going to sell anything to that new OCS grad. Now once at TBS the PX has the last-min buy advantage, but the real money is being spent in Q-town.

I'm 36-ish, sure I could wear a 34 though....aren't those things adjustable?

Buck is a great guy, and one hell of a buisinessman, but their prices are just out of control. I still kick myself in the ass for buying the $650 sword kit from them. I swear I'd buy a $50 knock-off from ebay if I had it to do over.

Exactly. Buck still uses the line that your sword must have a serial number or "the Sgt. Maj. will reject it". To anybody looking to save money, that line is total bull shit. The Sgt. Maj. never looks at anybody's sword for a serial number. He's too busy squaring away nasty drill in the hour and half he has you.

You'll be hard pressed to find one that hasn't! I've lent mine out about 20 times... Come to think about it, I have a 36 (I think) that has to make it's way back to Pensacola... I borrowed it for a buddy of mine, and still have yet to return it.

Buck never used this line with me. He sold it saying it was better quality. I made my own comparison and thought that yes, it was better quality. Looking back, I don't think it was worth the delta in price though.

If your buddy doesn't mind, I'd be glad to pay postage both ways and/or hand deliver it with a 12-er of his favorite poison.

I found a few on ebay, but they weren't perfect matches. I'll have to order it from Buck tomorrow otherwise, Chesty would roll over in his grave if I got it from anywhere else.:icon_wink

I'll have to find it, I think it's in my storage area. I'll email my buddy and let him know it's coming his way. He's an instructor in the VT's at Whiting, so you wouldn't have to pay postage to him... He doesn't drink, but I'm sure he'd just be happy to have it back, since it's been somewhere on the order of 4-5 years since I've borrowed it...
