Any luck with lost luggage?

I just returned from summer cruise, however my seabag did not. I've been calling the airlines everyday, but to no avail. I have to go back on the 10th, but have no uniforms. Any suggestions?

Well, you have a pretty valid excuse (you took all of your uniforms with you?). Why can't you just tell your LT what happened and see if it's ok to wear proper civilian attire? I'd try that before buying more.

I should clarify: wear civvies until you get your luggage back or a check from the airline, not for the rest of the year. And like Bevo said, if it's that important to your unit, they'll issue you new ones.

I had a similar situation coming home from my 2/c cruise. My seabag made it back, but about 1/3 of the items inside did not. Boots, belts, one white shoe (who takes one shoe?) were missing. I called American Airlines, and they had me fill out a reimbursement form with the approximate value of the items. I got the full value I asked for, and bought new items once I had the money.

Keep trying the airlines, and make it clear that you are a military member traveling on official orders (summer cruise orders count). And contact your unit, they should be able to get you new uniforms before school starts.

You are a college student and don't get a regular paycheck. There is no need for you to go out and buy another full set of uniforms until you get paid. The LT at your school should understand, just keep him updated in your quest to get the uniforms back or get paid by the airlines.

I know it sucks, but it's not your fault. ROTC units don't deploy, so I don't see any reason to jump through your ass to get a new full set of unies. If they want to make a big deal out of it, they can re-issue them to you.

I took what was on the list. So I have my CNT's but no leathers (or insignia)
I have some of my cammies, but no cover. No more Swoverall (yay?).

No more complete uniforms is more appropriate.

Then it should be easy to piecemeal them back together before the 10th, using your QMC....

No, you're right on. My comment was just directed at the QMC. That billet is being taken out of many of the units and most of the ones still exist are getting IAs like no one's business. My unit has no QMC and an LT and YNC on IA

Of course, I realize the need for IAs, but it really sucks for those guys.

Wow you guys still have YNCs? Our unit lost our YNC 1.5 years ago and our SKC 2 years ago. Replaced by GSs who were an SKC and a PS1 in their former military lives.

I work that type of stuff with the airlines. Most have a tracer attached to your bag. If they can't find it it is likely that a bagtag may have gotten torn off by accident or something of the like. Hopefully they will find it but they should reimburse you if they can't. But to be entirely honest finding a seabag without good identification attached to it is like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. I see seabags on every flight I work. Best thing you can do is be patient with them.

Make sure you give them good information on where to ship it or have it ready to be picked-up in the case that they do. Nothing is worse then shipping a found bag to a wrong address. Good luck.
