My OSO called me up and told me I should plan on taking the ASTB and PFT this week (woulda appreciated a little more time of notice heh but its fine) I've been studying the ARCO books, I have a PPL and am about 40% through instrument training, just got the study guide off of here. I feel like I'm good to go except I'm in the dark a little on the electrical circuit stuff (ohms etc) and just need to shake off the rust, the ACT and stuff makes you too reliant on your calculator.

Is there anything I'm missing or anything else I can do?

IMO (take it for what its worth, college freshman) having a PPL is helping out alot.
 
You will probably do fine. As for the electrical stuff, find a Boy Scout merit badge book for Electricity and Electronics. Real good basics there and it cost a couple bucks.
 
The astb doesn’t have any electrical questions on it.......or at least the one I took didn't. As for the arco books, I used them to prepare for mine and they did help. I already had a good understanding of the spacial apperception so that sections was a great review. The books also helped with the aeronautical information and helped to do all the problems as quickly as I could. That was the big thing for me but I managed to finish everything on the actual test. The way the test is formatted was different then the arco books but the kinds of questions were pretty much the same. The books was a good source to use but don't rely on just them. Good luck.
 
When I took the ASTB there were a few basic circuit questions. Resistors and capacitors and such. I don't remembe r much in the ways of actual calculations, the majority would be "which one is greater/lesser". I'd count on needing to know the formulas for sums of capacitors or resistors in series and in parallel, as well as the force changes for different numbers of pulleys in a system. If you can find one, grab a formula sheet for AP physics (I think it was roughly 4 sides of 8.5x11 total) and throw out anything past basic mechanics and circuits. I hadn't taken physics in 3 years, and even then, the only class I took was high school physics, and I had no problems with it.

The verbal, no matter how much they tell you is straightforward, is completely and utterly misleading. No real way to study for it, just pay attention to detail and don't use "common knowledge" to make any decisions. The math is straightforward, basic algebra and geometry. Nothing really complicated.

The non-OAR parts however, I'd suggest grabbing the ARCO book if you can. I didn't get it myself, but I've been working at an aircraft company with a private airfield for 7 years, and I still spent the better part of a month on google looking stuff up. Also don't forget to look up nautical stuff, especially buoys, lights, and right of way. If you're going for the high score (and you should be) look up what the color of a pipe aboard a ship means.
