WHat I would like to know is what is the current stance of Navy/Marine Corps guidelines as to a person who has allergies and is interested in applying for a pilot/nfo slot. Will I be disqualified from aviation duty if I have put down I have allergies, or will it matter

Thanks for the info. I just got done talking to my Marine OSO. He mentioned pretty much the same thing. I was going by the Air Force's guidelines, which states that you cannot have an allerigic reaction after the age of 13, and thought the same applied to Navy/Marine Corps. My allergies are hardly life threathened, just annoying. But he also told me that I was allowed to take antihistimances before a flight. I am going to talk to him more about it, but thanks for the info.

There are a few other approved medications as well. All they did to me was take an x-ray of my nasal cavity. They just want to make sure that there is nothing structural wrong. But like Mari said, if a doctor hasn't diagnosed it, it doesn't exist.

Sorry, I had just read another post from Mari. I am working on about 3 hours of sleep, so my brain is working a bit slowly. It was Michael who said it (although, I did take a little liberty in my translation).

Buck,
I've got some pretty bad allergies myself and have posted a few forums that have gotten a lot of good feedback. Check from the past 2 months.

A good friend of mine is an E-2 driver and he knows a C-2 guy who is, in his words, a "walking allergy". Allegra and Claritin are definetely allowed.

Bottom line is this: if you really want it bad enough, push it through. I've heard some pretty remarkable stories on this forum alone in support of that.
