Hey everyone,
New to the forum, and thus far it has been alot of help filling in the many blanks I have. I have some questions that maybe you all can answer.
1. My biggest question...do the AF guys have to swim? I'm a pretty good runner and everything else, just didnt alot of swimming growing up.
2. When are the VT's switching over to T-6's? I graduate in May and might get a class date by the end of the summer or later.
3. How many AF guys are there per class? How many Navy/Marine?
4. Any other experiences that might help?
Let me know.

1. The Air Force pretty much does their own water survival stuff which is after your winiging... although many of the AF studs jump in the pool and do the whole thing with the rest of us at API, including the mile swim.

2. Pretty much already there in -10 and -4. By the time you make it, you'll be in the T-6.

3. Far too many Chair Force types running around, if you ask me  Nah, there's a good number. I'd say by the time the P-3 and E-2 bubbas are gone... it's about an even split in VT-86.

4. Practice saying "head", "geedunk", "deck", "scuttlebutt" :D

That's funny. Trying to get an AF guy to say head or box. How about trying noggin or container on for size.

Gotta love the Chair Force. True story time:

To set the stage, we were flying against the F-15's ot of Kadena. EA-6B as striker/jammer, F-18 escort, F-15C's protecting the target.

AF guy in brief: "Our mission today is to stop the the striker (EA-6B) from putting B-words on the T-word."

Well, while we were on the inbound run, the F-15's flew right past us 1/2 mile abeam and a 1000' lower (we had sight), we promptly proceeded to the target and called: "Bombs away, on target"

I guess if had spent more time "craniums up" (head out of the cockpit), he may have been able to do his job.

It's funny because it's true!

As of a year ago, when I went through API, the AF WSO's had to do the swim stuff (I guess cuz we fly over water alot around Sherman Field). The pilots didn't.
