I've always gone w/ their SSA 110 or 115 grain 6.8SPC out of an M4-style 14.5/16" 6.8mm barrel ...

Please illuminate, should you so choose ... :)

Nothing to illuminate on the 6.5 but had pretty good luck with the 100 grain .257 in my Roberts and as seen on the previous post my 7mm-08 Kimber loves the 120 TSX. Both rifles plop them in close to three shot 1/2" at 100 if I do my part.

I just got an email from SSA about that loading. 3000 fps out of a 16" barrel pushing a very tough 85 grain bullet looks like the real deal to me.

My sons and I are going hog hunting with the 110 gr TSX next week. I'll let you know if we get lucky.

By the way I too love SSA's 115 grain OTM loading. It's less than MOA out my 6.8's

6.5 or 6.8??

Nothing to illuminate on the 6.5....

I think he asked about the 6.8 (perhaps you confused it with Hornady TAP 6.5 that isn't generally available...unless you know a guy who knows a guy and get your yourself the right barrel/upper mod)

Might have a few rounds to share with those on da island and within 200 miles of DC in near future. Looking for shooters who know 5.56mm through 7.62 and aren't biased one way or the other.

6.5 has same cartridge; note size of bullet compared to 5.56mm

Note difference in ballistic clay molds (6.5 is on top, obviously)

Hey A4's my sons and I just dropped 4 wild hogs using the 6.8 110 grain TSX out of 16" AR's.

Smallest was 130lbs and largest was 160lbs. 5 rounds 4 hogs. One of the shots was on a running hog that was gut shot 1st round then a neck shot that put it down for good.

The one I shot was a quartering away shot on a 150lb boar. The round broke 5 ribs then rendered everything between there and his neck un-usable. He ran about 5 yards and went down. The other two went down with one shot.

Bad ass round for tough medium sized game. It's no wonder some of the spec ops boys really like the 6.8 SPC.

I'll post pics when I get back from Fla and have a reliable connection
