Does anyone know how many air contracts are available in 2005. How often do the boards meet? I will not graduate until May 04, so I have a little bit of time left. I am suppose to meet with the OSO on Thursday. Any heads up would be greatly appreciated.

as far as my OSO is concerned
and as far as PLC-combine slots

he had 1 ground and 3 air
but the district only had 6 ground plc slots total
so it was not a guarenteed slot
it was more like 12 oso's and their applicants fighting over 6 slots

Luckily, i just got selected for an air slot at occ 186 plc-c
Rock!

Are the majority of the people applying for PLC already in the Marine Corps. or are they just regular college students? I was told by my recruiter that if your a Marine already PLC is pretty much a go. It is only competitive if you are not a Marine. Should I be believing him?

It's competitive either way, but not as competitive if you're already a Marine. I believe the majority of guys trying to get into PLC are college students.

Already being a Marine is definitely going to be a plus. Is it a guarantee that you will get an Air Contract, no. I can't speak for an OSO because I'm not one but here's what I've gathered about prior enlisted Marines who have applied for PLC and OCC. If two guys, one a prior enlisted(or currently reserve) and the other non-prior, were to submit their packages with the same scores (gpa, astb, pft) and the same recommendations then it kind of makes more sense for the board to select the prior enlisted guy. Again, I can't speak for the board but to me that just makes logical sense to me. Hope that helps somewhat.

Ryan,
Are you sure about those slot numbers? Those numbers sound kind of low to me. What district are you in?

9th MCD-but those numbers were just for him and just for PLC i believe.

Isn't PLC+OCC+OCS total 300 slots nationwide?
