Hey I was just wanting to know what dates the PLC boards meet, and what is the last date for the board to meet for the cuttoff for the summer 2004 PLC? Also how important is GPA when comes to selection for PLC selections.

I know the first board is supposed to meet sometime in late November early December(which is the best time to submit your package). I don't know about the other dates. If and when I find out I'll post it. Hopefully I won't find out and get selected at the first board.

The board meets dec. 5, 2003. Last day to submit is mid-November.... I think. My OSO told me the sooner the better for some reason. Also, according to him, the earlier you submit, the better the chances are of you selecting the class you want (i.e. first session or second).

I got a call today from my OSO in which he was asking me to try to get my last two PIQs sent in by tomorrow (wednesday OCT first) because

"the board is meeting thursday"

Apparently i'm lucky because my OSO is actually getting to brief the board on my package and whatnot (i don't really know what that means but i assume it means he gets to explain about me and his impressions rather than a person just reading the papers and trying to form an opinion that way)

They say I have a strong book. Here are my stats.

Age:20
Height-5'9"
Weight-149
classification--senior by credit
expected graduation in Dec' 04
University-U of Arkansas-Fayetteville
Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.56
PFT: 243 20:37 on run (need to improve PFT)
ASTB: 9/9/9/66 (9 9 3 pilot 9 9 5 nfo where i think the 3 and the 5 represent the biographical parts)
what else...lets see
Waivers: 1-one time drug use
2 speeding tickets
Vision: 20/20 Depth: pass Color: pass - 0

The real question is.. if two of my PIQ's dont' come in for this board, will i be looked off?
They are a former employer and an other.
Thats what I'm worried about.

as far as why its important to submit early:
Its a simple matter of having only having a limited number of slots available

Its a lot more competitive when its x guys fighting for lets say....20 slots left at the last board than it is for the same x guys going into it with 0/300 or whatever filled.

Oh well, hopefully i'll get selected by this board and not have to worry about this PIQs any longer.

Good luck,
Ryan

Any word on the second board? My first quarter won't be over until mid december, and I wont be able to apply until I have grades on my transcript.

Yea, I don't think I'll get everything in line with LOR's, medical, and ASTB before the dec. board. So when's the next shot?

My OSO told me that next board meets this month then in December. After that they meet frequently something like once a month due to the rapid application entries. Most candidates hand in there applications after Christmas, I guess.

Kind of funny how none of us are not exactly sure. It seems to me that an OSO would make it very clear when exactly the board meets that way some of us can use that date to our advantage. Maybe board meeting are classified. HA!

got a little clarifyer from my OSO yesterday via email.

He is apparently not only briefing the board...he is ON the board and he said after telling the other board members about my package he would recommend i get selected.

He informed me that there are 5 members and if you get voted 5 yes/0 no your in for sure
if you get voted 4 yes/1 no your probably in
he didn't say anything about 3/2 but its probably pass if its 3/2

Regardless, the only problem is i still don't know if my employer PIQ got in so i could very well be not reviewed on this board because of that, then i would lose the advantage of my OSO being on the board.

Hoping for the best,
Ryan

Sounds like you've got a sweet deal man. Here's what I found out today from my OSO regarding the December board. They have not announced when they will meet. All that is known is that they will meet sometime during the first 2 weeks in December. Hope that sheds some light.

does anyone know who meets for the board (other than Ryan's OSO)is the OCS commanding officer on the board, and do you need all 10 PIQ's in to go up for review?

You don't need 10 PIQ's. Actually you only need 6. 1 from the Dean of your college, 2 professors, 1 previous/current employer, and 2 character references. You can have more than 2 character references, but it's not a big deal if you do.

Good news! I got selected! I still need to get the employer piq or another piq to them before the list goes to the colonel to be signed but they said as long as i get that it shouldn't be a problem. This is unofficial confirmation i believe because the list, as i mentioned, has not yet been signed off by the colonel in charge. Regardless, 8-9 months left to prepare! Good luck everyone!
