Our good friends at Wilson Combat (Bill Willson) have released simply the ultimate 1911 Single Stack magazine. This is not a rehash of the 47D or any other 7 round design - but a new from the ground up 8 round design.

No need to put up with those awful "traditional" 7 round 1911 magazine with the outdated design.

All I ask... is why? I personally never thought the Wilson mags were worth the price ($35 for the new ones). Much cheaper are the Chip McCormick 8-rd PowerMags... Every bit as reliable and cheaper ($21 from MidwayUSA). I'd rather have 50% more magazines for my buck.

Not a 1911 shooter, but do own a Para Ordnance .45 LDA Carry.

So....what's so special about those magazines that warrants an announcement. Some new feed area...or is it just a new baseplate? It's 8 rounds single stack and will be longer, too, right?

Chip Mc's are good mags - I think Wilson is a little more innovative, modern materials, design, etc.

Remember this is a ground up redesign of a 8 round 1911 SS mag.

All I'm saying is... what benefit does it give me for the nearly double price? The only thing I caught of importance was the addressing of fatigue on the lip of the magazine... something I've never seen...

Now... I clean my mags every time I shoot, and I'd be willing to be, anyone spending that kind of cash on mags probably does too. I'd like to think that I would notice any sort of fatigue before it became an issue.

I think that Wilson, although high quality and innovative, probably rides on their name a lot more than they should be. I've never really been a fan of them, no matter how good their stuff is. Although I have used them for some custom M-4 work.

How can it be "ground up" redesign...sounds like marketing hype...what does that mean exactly....to be honest it looks like a regular 1911 magazine.

It has to fit where a current 1911 magazine fits, same notches and exterior dimensions.

Thus very similar to what is already out there...right?

Bill Wilson is an ego-maniacal douche. That about sums up any 'wtf' type question regarding WC stuff. Re-designed "from the ground up" my ass. Look, it's a 47D with different slots in the side and different floorplate.

Of course WC has their fanboys just like KAC and the others who will slob all over their brands knob regardless of how worthwhile it is.
