OCS “TMG” - CandiO Reserves?

Hey, don’t get it twisted I still have a positive outlook. I mean I did say, not much more work, a nice change of pace. Guess I should’ve put “poor souls” in quotes, it‘s only 8 days and CandiO responsibilities are pretty easy. And I said call it a conspiracy theory, do I seriously believe that’s what’s happening? No. It’s funny to think about if it was true, that’s all. At the end of the day, I don’t find TMG hard at all, it just sucks. And sure, embrace the suck, I get that.

I brought home more as a civilian and gave that up to follow my dreams, no big deal. Once I do get cleared and commission, it’ll be far better for me than where I was previously, trust me I’m looking forward to that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’m not jaded about it, there’s just nothing to do except vent. Do I feel that I’ve earned a commission? Absolutely. As far as I‘m concerned, all the folks who did get sent home medically after graduation earned a commission too, they just weren’t medically fit. Those folks knew straight from the time they saw flight doc that they might have issues, whereas flight doc told me it’d be easy PZ. Technically, I might be found NPQ as well, and I accept that possibility too. That doesn’t change the fact that we all went through the program and graduated fair & square.

If there’s anything that being here for months on-end without answers teaches you, it’s not to take things too serious. So, don‘t take my rant too serious. It’s just a rant. I do appreciate your down to earth reply.

Hey everyone, just to clarify a couple things:

First and foremost, as I expected, I was eventually pushed through and made it to Pensacola, easy PZ. I think it took NAMI 2 weeks to approve my waiver. My roommate was denied a waiver for his eyes so I really do acknowledge my fortunate circumstances, all things considered. They’re now making TMG folks serve food at the chow hall. The vast majority of them were waiting on medical when I left; the DOR/Attrites were probably only 20% of the group or so. Apparently the whole flight team up there was replaced so hopefully things move quicker soon.

Second, to the question of “do I know who I’m talking to”, my initial answer to that would be yes of course I realize there are plenty of experienced, highly regarded folks on this forum. As a follow up to that, it remains a public forum where military bearing/customs are not required by any means. In fact, I read through Brett327’s post history before I replied that initial time and some of what I read reaffirmed my decision to take a defensive tone. He’s been, uh, snappy to others in the past.

That being said, I acknowledge and respect the positions he has held outside and inside this forum, and in no means do I disparage him for anything. I think a lot of us would love to have a career like that, and we won’t get there complaining about stuff. I get it. Embrace the suck.

At the same time, where else would people understand what we go through other than here? That’s the whole reason I posted here was to engage this community where we all share this experience. It wasn’t purely to complain, though it did feel good to get stuff my chest. Had I posted on other social media, the replies definitely would not have had the same impact on my attitude, haha. It’s worth listening to the advice of people on here regardless of how… snappy y’all can be. lol

In closing, once again I was NOT being serious about the whole conspiracy about the way things flow in TMG. Obviously, that would be ridiculous. I mean, they are serving food now though… Anyway, thanks for entertaining my ramblings to everyone who replied, I certainly wasn’t expecting this much conversation lol.

After the waiver was denied, did you become another designator?

Yes, for about 2-3 weeks as a 1165. Then I got undiagnosed, fought another battle with NAMI, got some BS waiver that helped NAMI save face, and was then redesignated 1395.
