1001 questions (and answers) concerning BDCP

Spoke to my recruiter and he said you need to pass the initial PFT and future PFTs with at least satisfactory medium, and improvement is not necessary but highly recommended as you need at least Good low to pass at OCS.

He also told me that in case of PFT failure you will be given a second PFT in two days, and if you fail that one your BDCP contract can be terminated.

Anyone that can attest to this? I see so much conflicting around here that idk what to believe lol...

Just pass the PRT with the scores needed and you don't have to worry about this...

Pass it obviously, but I am gonna be honest, there were LOTS of people who failed their PFT at OCS initially, and even some who failed it on their mid and final, and they were allowed to graduate 🤷‍♂️

For those of you in BDCP who havent already, do your FAFSA application. Since were active duty, we claim independent and qualify for maximum pell grant which is around 7.4k a year paid toward your tuition or refunded to you individually.

Yeah im pretty sure this only works for our program as you cant be active duty in training like the ROTC cadets. We have official orders to our NTAG and all benefits any sailor would have so we would qualify.

Hey guys, I got into BDCP last year and the recruiter I’ve had since then just left. I have had a new recruiter for about a month, and he does not respond to texts or calls for days and days. I have been trying to get in touch for a trip to another country. I did all the APACS and IATP as well as filled out a leave chit. Sent it all to him over a week ago and I’ve followed up almost every day. He is not on leave because I was able to speak with him but I don’t know if anything is being done. Trip is in 3 weeks. Am I able to talk to anyone else at my command without being disrespectful to the chain of command way of doing things?

Contact the NTAG headquarters or visit the office in person.

A bit late, but going off of this if you're someone who missed out on selecting independent/active duty on your Fafsa in previous semesters go talk to your financial aid office. Granted this was 2 years ago, but I signed the paperwork for BDCP a couple days before my semester started (well after completing my FAFSA) so i was active duty the entire semester. I was talking to the finance office the following semester and they noticed that detail, so they gave me a full refund for the previous semester.

What if i did not have a fafsa application completed for last semester? I only just did my application for the upcoming school year as ive never qualified for financial aid before BDCP.

idk about that one. My school required FAFSA to be completed every year even to get our academic scholarships

Quick question about BDCP. I see online and the (I believe) latest Navy program authorization for BDCP dated Feb 2025 that your paid at a rate of E-4 and can be promoted to E-5/6? but my recruiter told me that this is false and i would be paid as an E-3 and can't go higher than that. He said something along the lines of "They used to pay you E-4 and offer promotions but it was too much money" but online on stuff/posts dated just 3 months ago i see people still saying your paid as an E-4? He also said that BDCP time does not could as time in service even though its active duty? He told me I'd get BAH so I'm just confused what the rules are on like pay and stuff. Sorry if this has been asked before.

He’s wrong you get paid as E4, get E5 if you recommend someone to the program and they join or when you graduate

Sorry one more question i asked my recruiter when i would take the PRT and he said "I'll have you take it approximately 30-60 days before you are due to leave for OCS" but I'm seeing you guys say there is an initial PRT when BDCP starts or something? Want to know if I'm about to take it soon here or not.
