Who is the Brigade Commander - is that one of the mids standing up on the stairs?

Yes, the Brigade Commander and XO are on the stairs along with some of their staff. The Brigade Adjutant, sometimes the XO makes the calls for the Brigade and most of the people you see with swords towards the center but not on the steps are the Battalion staffs.

And really, it's not that miserable, it's just a part of life there. Most of the time you're just looking forward to lunch and if you're lucky enough to have a "youngster" (the afternoon free of classes) a nice nap or workout.

Coming from AOCS, I can't stop laughing at the clip from 6'03" to 6' 11". As I recall there were never any "civilians" around Batt I or Batt II. We always assumed they would be eaten by GYSGT Goforth or GYSGT Crenshaw if they ever came too close. Maybe the USNA is more lenient in that area of security.

It's tough to deny entry to tourists when USNA is also classified as a National Park. Everyone is cleared out of T-court and the rotunda before it starts - but if someone was in Memorial Hall...

Well, the Marines (?) standing by the virgin guns was new. Thanks, bin Laden.

Those are Mids... AFTP officers. Another new way to create a job within the Brigade to give people a chance to exercise "leadership." They also do Parades, March Overs, etc... like a Mid with a baton can stop something catastrophic. But hey, if you think they were Marines, hell, maybe they are scaring someone away! :icon_wink

Coast Guard Academy was the same way. Fair weather was outside in the quads...Foul weather was in the company wing area. Inspections weren't a regular thing- they would do surprise quick inspections now and again and then once or twice a month plus special uniform inspections.

Tourists never came to NL though. Too scary.

My first class last semester was at 1300 MWF and 1430 TR. PT at 0500 TR, so a nice nap between PT and a late class, it was perfect. Sometimes I wasn't awake for lunch, depending on what happened the night before. That would be terrible...
