Why does the Marine Corps have its own "Air Force"?

"Dude, you just won the title of "Retard of Airwarriors" from Ghost."

Are you saying that disrespect doesn't exist or cross the line, or that I'm just retarded for caring when it does? If you want stories, PM me. I've met some ****ty people.

It's your "why don't they come on here to defend themselves". What a silly statement. Why would they even be interested on being on a Navy dominated board? Most of all, with statements like that, why woudl they even want to enter a debate with you, since you're obviously going to just trash-talk.

I personally believe that basing your self esteem upon the baseless denegration of others is a noble aspiration, to say the least. The fact that the Army and Air Force have yet to show up to defend themselves on this Navy/Marine website only proves that they are too scared to admit that they do, in fact, suck and have never accomplished anything. Ever. How could they be good at their jobs when they are "nasty" and wear rounded covers. Better to have one group do everything at once.
This is directed at no one in particular, but I catch whiffs of this sentiment daily (both inside and outside the military) and it grates on me. Few things should raise your respect of someone faster than their own respect for others.

Hopefully that first part was just a lame ass attempt at sarcasim...

I think your misinterpreting pride in ones service as degrading for the others. There is a difference between good natured ribbing and disrespect.

Members new to any service typically have very minimal previous exposure to the military, are still pretty brain washed and and have almost no clue what their service, let alone other services, do (and need to STFU in general)- sometimes their lack of real knowledge (or just plain ignorance) causes them to make uniformed, and sometimes off the wall, statements and another new accession from the subject service takes things as a personal attack on their service and themselve and then things get blown out of proportion.

Your profile says your waiting for API, this is a pretty common thing there among certain groups there, just ignore it.

Don't interpret legitimate efforts at an intelligent conversation regarding one services strengths and weakness v. another service as disrespecting one or the other. Each has strengths and weakness and some do things (in some cases, a lot of things) better then others and there is nothing wrong with discussing them in such a manner.

Fly Navy,
I was trying to be sarcastic with the first part. The "why don't they come on here to defend themselves" part was me trying to say that talk is cheap when the people you're trashing aren't around to defend themselves. They don't have any reason to be here because it is a Navy site. That was my point.
Zippy,
I agree with you completely, and I know the majority of talk is good natured and discussion is serious. I'm just a little sensitive to the topic because of something I saw in ROTC.
I was at Mardi Gras with a senior Marine option I highly respected. During a parade some AFJROTC kids came by. This was at the end, so they had been going for a while, and they looked pretty good. This Marine I respected and another decided they were going to stroke their egos by telling these kids how much they and the AF sucked, and how much better the Marines were. I lost a ton of respect for that guy, and it certainly didn't reflect well on the Marines.
I know most people are joking, but when they aren't and they disrespect others it is a shame for everyone involved. I certainly don't mean that these aren't legitimate topics that are being discussed. Nothing truly disrespectful has been said in this thread, but it just reminded me of other things I've seen/heard.
Sorry to sidetrack the thread. Good discussion, please continue.

The Marine Corps has become the occupying force in Iraq since the Army's cluster during OIF 1, and that sucks, we aren't manned to do this, and it's putting a huge strain on all devil dogs, and that stinks big.

Roger, missed the sarcasm. That's cool.

OK, each service has their own mission, and they train to that mission. Sometimes those missions overlap with other missions. With that being said, can this thread die?!?

And, I take offense to the statement that Marines are too scared to do SAR. Especially since I'm going to VMR-1 after my FAC tour. VMR-1, flying SAR for eastern NC (using the venerable Battle Phrog) and UC-35 VIP transport...

Does this hold any record for longest "dead" thread resurrected?
