Why are O4s considered JOs?

Actually I think they did a good job and a step in the right direction. Sure it's not perfect, but what is? True, Navy and Marine aviators have degrees, but for the Army, commissioned officers are rarely in a position to find a flying job when their done. As a warrant, if you track safety, maintenance or IP there are all kinds of job opportunities flying rotary wing when you get out. The more likely weakness in negotiating is that a warrant has 15-18 years. Who wants to give up on a decent retirement that is 2-5 years away?

Can't tell if you are joking or have a serious anger issue there.

What's the point of warrant ranks if they are being treated like, and have the supervisory responsibilities of, commissioned officers?

For the record, I think its amusing myself. No scrambled eggs on my hat in the Navy, but now in the Army as a warrant I have them. Speaking of Navy O-5 SWO COs, this is commanded by a CW-5:

Makes sense, that is how Warrant Officers got their start in the Army.

The only technical expertise they have over a commissioned officer is the fact that their full focus is supposedly flying. If they are splitting their time between managing and flying, the point of having a warrant flyer is gone.
Do they get paid less than the commissioned officer they're replacing? If so, there's your answer.

Depending on the ranks the pay differences aren't that much between CWO's and JO's in some cases.

I didn't realize you were talking about the flying CWO program. I thought you were talking about CWO's in general. The flying CWO program has been scrapped. Apparently the Navy had your views of, "What's the point?" The flying CWO's from this past decade are now LTs.

We're talking past each other. I was reaching back to the conversation about how Army WOs were getting tagged with more leadership billets. I already knew the USN had punted the flying warrant program into the stands.

Don't consider O-4's to be JO's. No other service does, so it is literally just us saying this, and by that, I mean mostly patronizing O-6 types without a job to do. Maybe a brand new O-4, but much like the O-3 ranks, there is a very wide variance between the junior and senior echelons. If you want to quickly identify yourself as a douchebag though, call a LCDR a JO.

Mess Dress is the thing you show up in when you don't want to wear Service Dress Bozo, and look like a teenager who just found Dad's sport coat. Grownups aren't afraid to wear the attire apropos to the function they're attending.

Except for women where service dress bozo looks less ridiculous than the frilly shirt and cummerbund with long skirt. I'm dreading purchasing that monstrosity.

As for the unis, same on the green side. The only time blues looks spectacular, is with captains bars and a Sam Brown. Only looks great with the gold stuff on the cover.
